Jamie McDonald - President and CEO

Jamie is the President and CEO of Sparkroom. Prior to founding Sparkroom, Jamie was the Vice President of Destination Services at Expedia and IAC Travel. Jamie joined Expedia in 1999 where he discovered his passion for direct marketing. Prior to Expedia, Jamie worked for Microsoft and Black & McDonald. Jamie holds a degree in Economics from Duke University and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School.

Edward Powell - Vice President, Sales

Edward is the Vice President of Sales at Sparkroom. Prior to founding Sparkroom, Edward joined LendingTree, an early pioneer in the online lead generation industry. As the Vice President of National Sales and Account Management at LendingTree, he was responsible for managing the company’s relationships with major financial institutions including Wachovia, Citibank and Wells Fargo. Most recently, Edward was Director of Marketing and Business Development for HSBC. Edward started his career as a mortgage loan officer at B.F. Saul Mortgage Co. a subsidiary of Chevy Chase Bank. Edward holds a degree in Political Science from Davidson College and an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.

Jamie Shulman - Vice President, Operations

Jamie is the Vice President, Operations at Sparkroom. Prior to founding Sparkroom, Jamie was a business executive, lawyer and entrepreneur. Most recently, Jamie was VP Digital at Indigo Books & Music, Canada’s largest book retailer. From 2002 to 2005, Jamie was VP & Assistant General Counsel at QRS Corp., a public technology company in San Francisco. In that role, Jamie managed various aspects of operations including contracts, legal, business development, IP and corporate governance. Jamie has also practiced law at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati in Palo Alto, California and at Torys in Toronto, Ontario, specializing in corporate finance for technology companies. Jamie holds a degree in International Relations from Brown University and JD & MBA degrees from the University of Toronto.

Charles Barton - Vice President, Research and Development

Charles is the Vice President of Research & Development at Sparkroom. Charles is a proven industry professional who has held several senior management roles in his 18 year career in software development and architecture. Most recently, Charles was VP of Software Architecture at Workbrain, the most widely-deployed workforce management solution for large enterprises (now part of Infor Global Solutions). Prior to Workbrain, Charles held positions as the Director of Software Architecture at Octanewave (now part of Dexterra), and Director of OSS Gateway Architecture at DSET. Charles holds a degree in Computer Science from Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Stephen Smith - Vice President, Product Management

Steve is the Vice President of Product Management at Sparkroom. Steve has over 15 years of software industry experience in senior product management, consulting and information technology roles. He has managed market-leading solutions in a number of segments, including workforce management, customer relationship management, and operational support systems. Prior to Sparkroom, Steve was responsible for Product Management for Workbrain, the most widely-deployed workforce management solution for large enterprises (now part of Infor Global Solutions). Steve holds a degree in Computer Science from the University of Toronto.

Chris Meerschaert - Vice President, Account Management & Strategy

Chris is the Vice President of Account Management & Strategy at Sparkroom. Since making his move out of minor hockey in 1995, Chris has become a recognized thought leader in the online lead generation industry. He is veteran direct marketer experienced in product marketing, customer acquisition and business development. Prior to joining Sparkroom, Chris spent twelve years at Quicken Loans, where he developed and managed one of the largest and most successful online customer acquisition programs in the mortgage industry. Chris has also held the position of Director of Client Services at Adchemy, a leading online customer acquisition company. Chris holds a degree in Marketing from the Oakland University.
